There's nothing quite as joyous as a room full of friends and a tarot deck. -AG

Hi, I’m Alex George—the creator of this site and a professional tarot reader and enthusiast based in Northern Colorado. To learn how I can bring uplifting tarot readings to your next corporate event, store promotion, or private party, please visit the Tarot Reading Events page. If you’d like to learn more about me and my reading style, read on…

It was October 2012

I was looking for a topic for my animation reel (I’m also a motion graphics artist), and tarot came to mind—but I knew little about it at the time. I purchased a few decks and books to begin my research, and I soon became enamored with tarot. I found that I felt especially connected to reading for both myself and others.

Funny enough, I never finished that tarot animation reel. Instead, tarot itself became the focus—opening the door to a new and deeply rewarding path of discovery, study, and personal growth.

My reading style

That early research sparked a deeper interest in tarot’s history, structure, and symbolism—all of which continues to shape my reading style today. I also learned various methods to enhance readings by looking more deeply into the cards and the relationships they form within a spread. But that was just the beginning.

A great tarot reading involves intuition, insight, personal connection, and feeling—but that doesn’t mean making things up as you go. It means developing the experience needed to understand what’s happening when several cards appear together, and recognizing the greater truth they reveal. And there’s more still.

A tarot reading isn’t truly great unless the client feels it is. At its heart, tarot is about people and communication—about understanding what a client is seeking and offering them a renewed sense of direction or deeper understanding. When a client steps away from the reading table with positive insight and a smile… well, that’s what tarot is all about.

Tarot: what was old is new again

The roots of tarot trace back to the mid-1400s, when a deck was created as a wedding gift for the Italian families Visconti and Sforza. At the time, tarot wasn’t considered a divination tool, but rather a trick-taking card game. Fast-forward to modern times, and tarot has evolved into thousands of different decks, many of which are now used for reflection, divination, and self-improvement.

In recent years, public interest in tarot has skyrocketed¹. When I first became a tarot enthusiast, I walked into a Spencer’s Gifts (known to be a veritable hub of pop culture) and asked if they carried tarot decks—only to be met with a blank stare. Today, many Spencer’s locations have entire displays dedicated to dozens of tarot decks. That's but one example; look around and it’s easy to see that tarot is popping up everywhere.

Tarot has become a popular and engaging form of entertainment at corporate events, employee outings, store openings, and private parties of all kinds. Even quick readings—often the case at larger events—are fun and meaningful. Everyone has a question, and readings often inspire conversation among attendees even after the event.

The topic of "fortune telling"

I don’t consider tarot reading to be fortune telling, and I’m not convinced that anyone can see the future with absolute certainty. If someone truly had that ability, they could simply pick a winning lottery ticket and wouldn’t need to make a living by giving readings at a tarot table.

Instead, tarot is best understood as future speculation—using symbolic imagery to help us reflect on our life paths in useful (and fun) ways. Tarot doesn’t dictate your future; rather, it’s an empowering tool you can use to help shape it.

What if a reading is negative?

My readings aren’t negative. Yes, some cards can represent challenges, but these moments are often the most helpful for guidance. Even when difficulties appear, every reading aims to move beyond the negative and toward constructive, positive insight.
